About 805 Fearless

Our  Mission

805 Fearless exists to empower individuals through education, awareness, and practical self-defense training. Our mission is to help people move through life with confidence rather than fear by equipping them with protective safety tools and skills that are realistic, accessible, and effective.

Our Approach to  Self-Defense Training

We emphasize prevention first. Awareness, boundary setting, and situational understanding are foundational to our programs. When physical techniques are taught, they are simple, practical, and designed to work under stress.

Training is structured for all experience levels. No prior martial arts background is required. Every session is designed to be supportive, empowering, and focused on real-world application.

Self-Defense Training Rooted in  the Central Coast

Based in Morro Bay, 805 Fearless proudly serves communities throughout San Luis Obispo County and California’s Central Coast. We are committed to strengthening our local community through education, preparedness, and empowerment.

Meet Instructor  Mel Orpilla

Mel has been a martial artist since 1972. Since 1998, He has trained exclusively in the Filipino Martial Arts of Balintawak Arnis.

I’m a certified Grand Master under Senior Grand Master Ver Villasin. I teach self-defense to women on a regular basis.

I also differentiate teaching self-defense and teaching martial arts, especially in seminars to non-martial artists. I specialize in “equalizer” self defense tools such as the Dulo-Dulo, pocketknife, cell phone and other improvised weapons.

My daughter and son live in SLO, and My daughter assists me since she is a certified teacher on my system. “
